Majles approves yearly budget
Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:26PM Iran's Majles (Parliament) has approved a $347 billion budget for the upcoming Iranian calendar year (March 2010-March 2011). Given the Majles's consistent criticism of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's administration on economic matters, the bill's fairly easy approval (151 votes for, 62 against) should come as a relief to him.
The budget is based on an oil price of $65/barrel. It includes an eyebrow-raising $500 million for one of the hardline camp's pet projects, combating the enemies' soft war against the regime.
